Below I have included a brief description of the different types of media comprising multimedia. I have also included examples where appropriate:

A string/ sequence of characters, consisting of written human language.

Anything visually displayed on a screen that is not text.

A picture/ representation of an object/ scene, on paper or a display screen.

A sequence of images that are shown one after the other, very quickly, to give the illusion/ appearance of continuous movement.

A term used to describe sounds within the range of human hearing (20 Hz to 20 kHz) or a method by which sound is recorded digitally and stored.

A moving picture (animation), accompanied by sound.

Information stored on the computer system, used by applications to accomplish tasks.
