    • 1780: Franklin discovers electricity
  • 1800's
    • 1876: The telephone is invented
    • 1888: Film Invented (Sequential photographs manually pulled through a projector)
  • 1900-1949
    • 1931: First calculator
    • 1937: First full-length animation is released ("Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs")
    • 1940: First colour TV broadcast
  • 1950-1969
    • 1956: First Trans-Atlantic telephone cable layed
    • 1957: Sputnik launched (first space flight)
    • 1960: Removable disks invented
    • 1963: First home video tape recording
  • 1970's
    • 1972: First commercial video game (PONG)
    • 1975: Microsoft is founded by Bill Gates
    • 1978: First commercially available cell phone
    • 1979: SONY introduces a portable audio cassette player ("Walkman")
  • 1980's
    • 1980: SONY introduces the consumer camcorder
    • 1982: Computer-generated graphics in movies step forward with Disney's "Tron"
    • 1984: Apple Computers introduces the Macintosh with the first mouse driven GUI (Graphical User Interface)
    • 1988: Pixar's "Tin Toy" is the first computer-animated film to win an Academy Award
    • 1989: Tim Berners at CERN proposes the world wide web
  • 1990-present
    • 1990: First browser demonstration
    • 1993: Internet goes interactive with release of Mosaic browser
    • 1995: Private ISP (internet service providers) becomes big business
    • 2001: Broadband (ADSL) introduced to the masses
